The Richmond Volleyball Club is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors provides oversight on all matters and the President of the Board is the Executive Director’s supervisor. Board members may be reached at


Individuals interested in joining a committee should email with their name,  the name of the committee on which they are interested in serving, and any other information they believe prevalent. 

Board Commitees

  • The Compensation Committee shall be chaired by the President. The Compensation Committee is a board committee comprised of the Directors who are also the Officers of the Corporation as defined in Article V of these Bylaws. The Compensation Committee shall oversee the Executive Director, oversee the annual compensation process, including approving the overall compensation budget and compensation of the Executive Director. The Compensation Committee shall have such powers and shall perform such duties as the Board of Directors may from time to time designate.

    Meets annually. Closed to Board Officers only.

  • The Governance and Nominating Committee shall be chaired by the Vice President of Governance and its membership shall be comprised of those individuals appointed by the Vice President of Governance. The Governance and Nominating Committee shall assist and advise the Board of Directors in the governance of the Corporation and in presenting a slate of potential Directors for election by the members.

    Meets as needed with possibility of more frequent meetings as elections near.

  • The Finance Committee shall be chaired by the Treasurer and its membership shall be comprise of those individuals appointed by the Treasurer. The Finance Committee shall assist and advise the Board of Directors in oversight of the financial affairs of the Corporation.

    Meets monthly.

  • The Board of Directors shall elect the chairman of the audit committee. The audit committee is a board committee and its members shall be comprised of those directors appointed by the chairman. No more than half of the members of the Audit Committee may also serve on the Finance Committee. The Audit Committee shall recommend the selection of an auditor to the Board of Directors for approval. The audit committee shall receive the initial report of the auditors and otherwise assist in the annual audit of the Corporation’s finances. The Audit Committee shall also receive and handle any complaints of violations of the Corporation’s Conflict of Interest policy.

  • The Board of Directors shall elect the chairman of the Diversity, Inclusion and Outreach Committee and its membership shall be comprised of those individuals appointed by the chairman. The Diversity, Inclusion and Outreach Committee shall assist and advise the Board of Directors in setting the strategic direction, goals, and prioritization for the Diversity, Inclusion, and Outreach efforts of the club.

    Meets bi-monthly.

  • The Board of Directors may establish such committees and task forces of limited authority in the management of the affairs of the Corporation as it may deem necessary or advisable, and the numbers, terms, and authority of such committees shall be as set forth in the resolution establishing the same.

Management Committees

  • The Development Committee supports fundraising and financial development efforts of staff such as sponsorships by undertaking, reviewing, discussing, evaluating and helping to implement proposed financial development, grants and fundraising strategies.

  • The purpose of the Program Support Committee is to assist staff with the development and implementation of initiatives designed to increase retention of members. May include rules review, member engagement, event coordination, team placement, coach and/or referee development, etc.

  • Robison Fund Committee – This committee meets annually to review junior player applications for financial assistance and make recommendations to staff.

Nicholas Sladic – President

Chair of Compensation Committee

  • Nicholas (Mick to those who know him) has been a member of RVC for the past 20 years – joining the club when he first moved to Richmond in 1997.   His interest in volleyball stems back to his college days at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania where he played as a setter.   While his day job is one of working as an attorney at Capital One for the past 18 years, over the years he has been a very active RVC member.  Mick has played in men’s leagues for the better part of the past 15 years and his daughter has participated in the juniors and travel programs the past 4 years, and he coaches in the RVC junior travel program.  Accordingly, his experience at the club is deep and broad. Mick has extensive prior board experience (Tuckahoe YMCA Board of Directors, Autism Spectrum Connection, Virginia Early Childhood Development Foundation Board of Directors).  His experience, broad knowledge base regarding RVC and its variety of services, along with his passion for the sport make him committed to the club and advancing its ideals. 


Aidan Guilfoyle – Vice President

  • Originally from Roanoke, VA., Aidan knew RVC well from the tournaments she played at the facility each year. She started playing volleyball when she was little –travel ball during her middle and high school years, and at a small D1 college in PA – Lafayette College, for her college career. While she has only been an active RVC member for a year, Aidan immediately dove right in—joining multiple teams and making sure never to miss a quads tournament. She loves the sense of community and the dedication of the club – from the players to RVC leadership to the refs and folks staffing the beer station. Currently, Aidan works in marketing/PR at The Hodges Partnership where her days involve a lot of writing, social media, working with reporters and graphic design. She also serves as a Class Fund manager for the Lafayette College Class of 2015, where she does her fundraising outreach. Aidan is passionate about RVC and brings a vibrant, fresh perspective to the team.


David Muddiman – Treasurer

Chair of the Finance Committee

  • David is a CPA with nearly twenty eight years of experience in both Public practice and as a CFO and/or Treasury Director for a variety of start-up and large existing corporations.  He currently serves on the board of several other charities such as the Chelonian Research Institute, The Truland Foundation and The Butz Foundation. Having played college level athletics, David has a great appreciation and understanding of the benefits of competitive club and team sports.  RVC has been a part of his life for 20+ years and he has seen the club grow from its days at the old skating rink into having the reputation of being one of the largest and best run programs in the country.  David believes the combination of club play, juniors programs, USAV programs, and the community involvement has really set the organization apart.


Leith Ellis – Director

  • Leith is a long-time member, since 1982, and have played intercollegiate club level volleyball, and has played various levels from open through B3. He is also active in coaching volleyball having coached adult teams in USA Volleyball, juniors teams in the Juniors City League, and currently an assistant girls volleyball coach at St. Gertrude High School. In the past he was also a rated volleyball official and refereed Division II women’s volleyball matches. Leith’s background as a player, coach and referee gives him an unique prospective to the Board offering new ideas on how to grow volleyball in Richmond and the surrounding area.


Devin Keeler – Director

  • Devin has been an adult member of RVC for over 10 years and has enjoyed seeing the club grow and expand its facilities and program offerings.  He has been a member of men’s, coed, quads, and sand volleyball teams and has also been an active member of the RVC Facilities Committee.  Devin is a consulting engineer with over 11 years of professional experience and is responsible for directing multi-disciplinary engineering teams for a wide variety of project types.  His professional responsibilities include technical/engineering and oversight, project management, quality control, financials, marketing, and business development. In his spare time, he loves skiing, working to renovate his house, and enjoys time with family and friends.


Devin Pope – Director

Chair of Governance and Nominating Committee

  • Devin is a Richmond-area attorney with nearly seven years of experience including employment, personal injury, education, social services, administrative, and disability law, mass torts, and compliance.  Her service to the community includes mentoring young adults as well as drafting initial documents for 501(c)3 non-profit organizations. A former participant in youth sports, Devin celebrates the positive impact of athletics in personal development among young people and adults.  She is happy that the Richmond Volleyball Club fosters teamwork, sportsmanship, community, and wellness in the Richmond area. 


Jacki Quinlan – Director


    As the Director of Community Outreach at Sports Backers, Jacki is passionate about ensuring all members of our community have the opportunity to live an active lifestyle. She has seen firsthand the impact RVC has when engaging in outreach in Richmond’s undeserved communities and is eager to support RVC’s outreach efforts, in addition to supporting the programming that has served thousands of locals since 1981.


Daniel Jongleux – Director


  • I have been a member of RVC for two years, playing in adult leagues. My first interaction with RVC was as the Operations Director for Stonewall Sports – Richmond where I formed a relationship betwee n the two organizations. After forging the relationship, I had the opportunity to join one of your adult leagues where I quickly grew fond of the sport. I am a graduate of Appalachian State University where I studied Recreation Management. Since graduating, I have worked at Raleigh Parks and Recreation, the YMCA, and Henrico Education Foundation. I feel my experience in both the recreation and non-profit sectors will provide valuable knowledge and experience to the board of RVC.I also serve in multiple volunteer capacities and organizations. Some of which include serving as a committee member for the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Assoc., steering committee member for the YMCA of Greater Richmond’s LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group, as well as the Founding Operations Director and Second Commissioner of Stonewall Sports – Richmond. I hope to better serve our community and surrounding areas as a board member of Richmond Volleyball Club. 


Michelle Mertens – Director


  • I fully believe in the mission of RVC. I have played volleyball for over 20 years, from high school to traveling and at the collegiate level. I have found that the teamwork and communication skills that can be developed in an athletic environment are invaluable. I appreciate that RVC is creating that environment for its younger members and giving them the opportunity to hone those skills. I recently joined the nonprofit industry and believe I could use new skills gained as well as those from prior positions to help the board and organization. Over the last nine months I have worked with my organization as we navigate COVID-19 and responding to the challenges presented. It has been a unique time, but one that has presented me with the opportunity to gain experiences in navigating through crisis and assisting business decisions in uncertain times. While my background is largely in accounting, I thrive when helping others. I believe serving on the board would provide me the opportunity to bring my accounting expertise with my passion for helping others together.


Lynn Hall – Director


  • I have been a volleyball and sports enthusiast for most of my life. 

    Professionally I had a very promising career in the print industry where I accumulated many awards.  Around 2009, I decided to make a transition to the sports and recreation field. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Tourism Management, along with a Master of Science degree in Sports Management.  My experience in volleyball combined with my education landed me a great opportunity in 2016; I moved to Richmond and accepted the Adult Program Manager position with RVC. In 2019, I made a very difficult decision to leave RVC and to begin a career with Chesterfield Parks and Recreation, as a Senior Recreational Specialist. Currently I am responsible for the recruiting, hiring and managing 80 part time seasonal staff for the county’s basketball program, November through March. The program has 4 leagues, approx. 6000 youth athletes, operating in 50 school gyms, 7 days per week. I am also responsible for summer camps and run an Introduction to Sports camp for kids ages 5-12 in four schools throughout the summer. I have been an active member of the volleyball community in NC and VA for many years. I can bring a different perspective to the board. As a player, and specialist in sports, including volleyball I will share the latest trends in the field. If elected I will work with Board members and the Executive Director to help reestablish RVC. COVID has impacted all industries especially sports. RVC has been an icon in Richmond and the volleyball community for over 30 years. It important to the community, and the sport to ensure RVC will be around for another 30 years and more.
